Hopkinsville’s Trushaun Matt went 1-2 in his weight class on Saturday in semi-state wrestling action at Union County.
Matt, a junior, was looking to qualify for the KHSAA State Finals at George Rogers Clark High School Feb. 25-26 but fell short of finishing in the top eight in the semi-state event.
Matt suffered a 15-13 setback in his first match in the 113-pound weight class but came back to decision Landon Packard of Larue County 15-0 in the consolation bracket.
But Matt was pinned by Nico Plumeri of Louisville Trinity in the next round.
Matt was the only Hopkinsville wrestler to qualify for semi-state after a fourth-place showing in the regional tournament the previous week in Princeton.
