The luck of the draw was not kind Saturday to the Todd County Central Rebels. Just hours after losing a tough, two-point 13th District championship game to Franklin-Simpson Friday, the Rebels got the absolute toughest draw they could get for the quarterfinals of the 4th Region tournament.

The Rebels are matched up against one of the state’s top-ranked teams, the Warren Central Dragons in the final game of the first round, Thursday night at 7:30 at Diddle Arena.

The Dragons enter the tournament at 23-3. Warren Central plays in the 14th District, which featured three of the top-ranked teams in the state in themselves, Bowling Green, and Greenwood.

The Dragons overwhelmed Bowling Green 68-42 in the district championship game.

Warren Central enters the 4th Region tourney on an 11 game winning streak. Their only losses during the season were a two-point double-overtime loss to Greenwood, a 7 point loss to Bowling Green, and a four-point loss to Indianapolis Arsenal Technical.

Todd Central enters the tournament at 23-8.

The game will be the first between the schools in 20 years. The last time they met there were high stakes on the line as the Dragons won 70-64 in the 4th Region championship game.
