Former Lyon County standout Kaelyn Conger picked up her first college pitching wins at a familiar field over the weekend.
Playing for Quincy University in the Blue Bridge Battle at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro,
Conger earned her first win on Saturday, then followed that up with a shutout on Sunday.
Conger was a senior on Lyon County’s 2021 softball squad which won the All A Classic state championship at the Owensboro park.
Conger’s first win for Quincy came on Saturday in a 6-4 triumph over Notre Dame College (Ohio).
Conger tossed the first six innings, allowing three earned runs on nine base hits. She walked three and struck out two.
On Sunday, Conger went the distance in the circle for the Hawks in a 6-0 shutout of Kentucky Wesleyan. Conger threw a four-hitter in the seven-inning contest, striking out one without allowing a walk. She needed just 49 pitches to blank the Panthers.
Conger is now 2-3 while Quincy is 3-8 but has won three straight.
The Hawks will play in the UIS Invitational this weekend in Springfield, Ill.
