After a winless campaign last year, the Fort Campbell baseball team is looking to turn the page and build some momentum as the Falcons embark on the 2022 season.
Five seniors are gone off the 0-23 team that lost to Hopkinsville in the 1st round of the 8th-District tournament. Travis Doyle and Greyson Meyer are the most significant losses, with Doyle hitting .273 and collecting 12 hits, both second on the team. Meyer was third with a .265 average and made three starts on the mound with a 7.80 ERA.
Senior Andrew Haughenbury leads the returning players after hitting a team-high .333 with 14 hits and 6 RBI last season.
Junior Aidan Blaszkowski handled most of the pitching for the Falcons last season, making 12 starts and striking out 30 batters in just under 50 innings. He also hit .167 and drew a team-high 10 walks.
After tying for second on the squad, Junior Ethan Egner also returns with 12 hits.
Angel Garcia, Robert Dennis, and Felipe Hernandez lead a group of eight sophomores. The Falcons are a little thin with only two freshmen but also have five middle-schoolers on the roster.
Fort Campbell opens the season on Tuesday with a trip to Webster County before jumping into district play with a visit from Christian County on Friday.
