Lady Warriors Open Softball Season With Two Wins

Heritage Christian Academy opened its softball season Saturday with a pair of wins over Cornerstone Christian at Linda Garris Field.

HCA won the opener 14-4 and followed with an 11-2 win.

In the first game, HCA used a nine-run first inning and followed with a single run in the second and four more in the third to claim the win.

While the Lady Warriors took advantage of the 14 walks issued to them, Kylynn Tudor had three hits and three RBIs. Madison Warren had a hit and two runs knocked in, and Gracey Bufford, Rachel Robson, and Payton Outland each drove in two runs.

Kennedy Hughes allowed five hits and struck out four to get the win. She didn’t walk a batter.

In the second game, HCA scored in every inning but the second to get an 11-2 five-inning win.

Hughes got the win in the circle, allowing an unearned run and seven hits while striking out four. At the plate, she helped herself with two hits and three RBIs.

Warren added an RBI triple for HCA, and Outland had two more RBIs.

HCA returns to play Tuesday at home against Franklin Road.
