After a program-best start to the season, the Trigg County softball team hit a bit of a skid with losses to Paducah Tilghman and Ballard Memorial over the weekend, but the Lady Wildcats got back to winning ways on Monday with a 16-0 victory over visiting Hopkinsville.
Trigg County jumped in front with a five-run 1st, using three walks, a wild pitch, and RBI singles by Rylee Hendricks and Livi Breckel to take control.
Audrey Alexander’s RBI double highlighted three runs in the bottom of the 3rd before the Lady Wildcats closed the show in the 4th.
Trigg County drew five bases-loaded walks and a hit-by-pitch, with MaKenna Hendricks’ RBI single one of only two hits in the seven-run 4th.
Avery Wade pitched three innings for the win, allowing a single hit and a walk with six strikeouts. Lillie Cortner pitched the 4th, yielding a hit and preserving the shutout.
Breckel was 3/3 at the plate with a pair of RBI, followed by MaKenna Hendricks with two hits and two runs driven in. Rylee Hendricks also drove in two, with Alexander and MaKenzie Yielding each adding an RBI.
Hannah Thorsen took the loss in the circle and collected both hits for the Lady Tigers.
Trigg County hits the road on Tuesday in a bid to avenge Saturday’s loss to Paducah Tilghman.
Hopkinsville will also be in action on Tuesday, opening 8th-District play with a visit from Fort Campbell.
