Chaudoin Dominant in Hopkinsville’s 7-1 Win Over Henderson

After some early-season bumps in the road, the Hopkinsville Tigers appear to be finding their stride. Led by a 16 strikeout performance from Preston Chaudoin, the Tigers cruised to a 7-1 homefield win over Henderson County Friday night.

In addition to the standout performance from Chaudoin, the Tigers’ offense pounded out ten hits on the way to the win, which improved the Tigers to 3-3 on the season.

The Hoptown bats got rolling early. The Tigers connected for four singles in the bottom of the first inning, three of them driving in runs. Preston Chaudoin, Zach Moss, and Joseph Boor, all drove in runs in the opening inning.

The Tigers struck for three more in the bottom of the fourth. Preston Chaudoin and Zach Moss drove in runs for Hoptown.

After Henderson converted a Tiger error to a run in the top of the 5th, the Tigers would get the run back in the bottom of the 6th when Tim Cansler drove in Charles Rutland with a base hit to wrap up the scoring for the night.

In addition to dominating on the mound, Chaudoin was hot at the plate, going 3-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Zach Moss was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Jacob Dilday ended up 2-4 with a run scored.

On the mound, Chaudoin went 6 2/3 innings, giving up one unearned run, striking out 16 while walking just one.

Hopkinsville is back in action Saturday afternoon when they host Logan County.
