The Fort Campbell Falcons had one of the biggest offensive outputs of the 2022 baseball season but it was still not quite enough to pick up a home win Saturday. Kenwood used a ten-run fifth inning to get the lead and rolled from there to a 15-6 win over the Falcons on post.
After Kenwood broke the ice with a run in the top of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead, the Falcons came battling right back in the bottom half of the inning. The Falcons got an RBI double from Thomas Roach and an RBI single from Blake Fann as part of a four-run inning that saw Fort Campbell take a 4-1 lead into the fifth inning.
The momentum from that inning would be short-lived, however. Kenwood was able to take advantage of three Falcon errors, two walks, and a hit batter as they erupted for ten runs in the top of the 5th. Kenwood would close out the big inning with a two-run homer as the inning ended with an 11-4 lead.
Fort Campbell would score a run in the bottom of the fifth on a hit batter to trim the lead to 11-5. Kenwood would then seal the win with four more runs in the top of the seventh.
Fort Campbell scored one late run on a bases-loaded walk to get to the final 15-6 score.
Aidan Blaszkowski led the Falcons at the plate, going 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Blake Fann finished 1-2 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
The loss dropped the Falcons to 1-9 on the season. The Falcons are scheduled to host Livingston Central Monday.
