The Hopkinsville softball team bounced back from a lopsided loss to LaRue County in the morning on Saturday to knock off John Hardin 11-5 for the Lady Tigers’ second win of the season.

Despite taking an early lead on Taylor Joachim’s RBI double and outhitting LaRue County 6-4, the Lady Tigers were on the wrong end of a 17-2 result.

Jakayla Grubbs was 2/2 and drove in a run for Hopkinsville.  Hannah Thorson took the loss in the circle, surrendering 14 earned runs on only four hits with ten walks and two strikeouts.

Isabelle Hayes allowed a single run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts to earn the win for the Lady Hawks.  Paige Evans and Maleah English each had a hit, scored twice, and had three RBI.

The Lady Tiger bats were hot early in their second game against John Hardin, beginning with Taylor Joachim’s two-run home run in the top of the 1st.

RBI singles by Kaitlyn Kaetzel and Thorson fueled a seven-run 2nd frame, and Thorson was at it again in the top of the 3rd with a two-run double for an 11-0 Lady Tiger lead.

A five-run 3rd, including an RBI triple by Patricia Gregory, got John Hardin back in the game.  But Hoptown held on behind four strong innings in the circle for Shaniyah Straight.

Straight allowed three earned runs on three hits with six walks and three strikeouts to earn the win.  Thorson was 3/3 with two RBI, Daijha Owen and Taylor had two hits and drove in two runs each, and Kaetzel added two RBI.

Hopkinsville will return to the field on April 8 when the Lady Tigers travel to John Hardin to take part in the Bulldog Classic.
