Warriors Get Revenge After 2021 Blow Out Loss

Last year, West Florida Baptist Academy handed Heritage Christian Academy a 20-1 loss when the Warriors made a spring break swing through the panhandle.

On Wednesday, HCA turned the tables and beat the Conquerors 6-2 at the Santa Rosa Sports Plex.

HCA improved to 2-0 on its current trip to the Sunshine State.

After failing to score in the first two innings, HCA strung together four straight one-out singles to take a 2-0 lead.  Trenton Hayes and David Jent each singled.  Weston Powell and Tra Fowler followed with RBI singles.

HCA added four more runs in the fourth inning. Jent’s single scored pinch-runner Aaron Hensley for a 3-0 Warrior lead. Powell and Fowler followed with bases-loaded walks to push the advantage to 5-0.

Powell scored HCA’s final run on an errant pick-off attempt.

Trenton Hayes ran his record to 3-0 after allowing just four hits in four innings. He struck out five and didn’t allow a run until the fourth inning.

HCA took advantage of its six hits by adding six walks and two stolen bases to the offensive effort.

Jent had two of HCA’s six hits.

Heritage Christian Academy (9-1) wraps up its Florida swing Friday with a game against East Hill Christian. The Warriors will return to Kentucky over the weekend and prepare for Monday’s All-A Classic region contest at Caldwell County.
