For three and a half innings Friday night, the Trigg County Wildcats were in the thick of a 0-0 game with the Graves County Eagles. The only problem was that things changed in a big way in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Graves County exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth on their way to an 11-0 five-inning win over the Wildcats.
The Eagles came up with 8 singles in the inning, which was their total number of hits for the game. Graves County was aided by four walks and a Trigg County error in the inning.
Eagles’ hurler Drake Defreitas threw a five-inning no-hitter against the Wildcats. He struck out eight but did have some control issues as he walked six Trigg County batters.
Aaron Despain pitched three innings of no-hit ball for Trigg County before things came unwound in the bottom of the fourth inning. He was charged with seven runs, only four of them earned.
A second game between the two teams was called after an inning and a half with Graves County leading 4-3.
The loss drops Trigg County to 4-10 on the season. The Wildcats are scheduled to play at Fort Campbell on Tuesday.
