It took Lyon County an extra 30 minutes to get on post Friday for its All A Classic region quarterfinal game at Fort Campbell due to a communication mix-up between the military school and its front gate.

Lyons’ coach Ricky Baker was happy the bats made it through the gate as Lyon County smashed three home runs in a 16-1 win over the Falcons.

Lyon scored 12 of its 16 runs in the final two innings to pick up the mercy-rule run.

Brody Williams mashed a pair of home runs — his fifth and sixth of the year. His first-inning two-run shot gave the Lyons a quick 2-0 lead. Jackson Shoulders walked, stole second, and scored on an errant throw for a 3-0 advantage.

Lyon added a run in the second inning when a Williams sacrifice fly scored Peyton Carney.

Lyon County doubled its lead to 8-0 with a two-run single by Eli Baker and a two-run double by Peyton Williams.

They doubled its lead once again in the fourth inning when 13 batters went to the plate.

Brody Williams and Jackson Shoulders hit back-to-back home runs in the inning as Williams capped a five-RBI day. Turner Hurst and John Bingham each had a pair of hits with Hurst driving in a pair.

Fort Campbell took advantage of two Lyon County errors in the third inning to plate its only run.  Felipe Hernandez reached on an error and scored the lone Falcon run.

Ethan Egner had the lone Falcon hit as Peyton Williams struck out nine in three innings of work while yielding four walks.

Lyon County upped its record to 11-2 heading into Saturday’s All A semifinal showdown with Caldwell County.

Fort Campbell fell to 1-12 with the loss.
