This one goes to the Eagles. In an annual matchup between the Fort Campbell Falcons and the Fort Knox Eagles Saturday, Fort Knox used 10 tens to score in each of their four at-bats on the way to a 13-3 five-inning home-field win over the Falcons.
Fort Campbell led the game briefly when Tyler Hansen drove in Aidan Blaszkowski with a sac fly in the top of the first, putting the Falcons ahead 1-0.
The Eagles tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and then took the lead for good with six runs in the bottom of the second. The big inning came about, in large part, due to three walks, two hit batters, and a Falcon error.
A two-out Falcon miscue in the bottom of the third opened the door for three more runs. The Eagle bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth for four base hits as they scored three more to push the lead out to 13-1.
The Falcons very nearly kept the game alive in the top of the 5th. Andrew Haughenberry came up with a two-out RBI single and the Falcons drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to 13-3. But the Eagles were able to get a ground ball from the Falcons to end the inning and the game.
Andrew Haughenberry ended his day 2-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Angel Garcia had the only other hit in the game for the Falcons.
Aidan Blaszkowski went all four innings for Fort Campbell on the mound. He gave up 13 runs, but only six of them were earned. He struck out four and walked four.
The Falcons are set to be back in action Monday when they host Clarksville Northwest.
