Eighth grader Jackie Farmer became Caldwell County’s starting pitcher when senior Illysa Stallins was injured 11 days ago in an All A Classic regional semifinal win over Livingston Central.
Despite facing a difficult run of games last week against Lyon County, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Henderson County, Farmer is 3-4 with a save this season.
On Monday, Farmer scattered six base hits to help the Lady Tigers pick up a 5-1 victory over Graves County.
YSE spoke with Farmer following the game. She said getting to pitch on the varsity level has been a great learning experience.
