
Lyon County made quick work of Livingston Central in 5th District baseball action Wednesday in Smithland.
A nine-run second inning and a seven-run third helped the Lyons rout the Cardinals 20-0 in just three innings.
Jackson Shoulders homered twice — his fifth and sixth of the season — and finished the day 4-for-4 with seven runs batted in.
Meanwhile, Brody Williams also homered — his 10th of the year — and went 4-for-4 with three RBIs.
Williams doubled twice while Shoulders had one double. Each player scored three times.
Williams and Shoulders went deep back-to-back in the top of the first inning. Eli Baker tripled home two more runs as Lyon grabbed a quick 4-0 lead.
Lyon (17-3 overall, 4-0 district) then sent 14 men to the plate in the second inning while adding nine runs to go up 13-0.
In the third, Shoulders finished off the scoring with a grand slam to extend the margin to 20-0.
Peyton Williams was the winning pitcher for Lyon. He tossed two innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. He struck out four.
Brody Williams pitched a scoreless third inning.
Livingston (6-12, 0-2) got its only hit from Aiden Fugate, a single in the second inning.
Lyon next takes the field at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond on Saturday in the state All A Classic. The Lyons face Hazard in quarterfinal round action at 11:30 a.m. Central time that day.
Livingston plays at Christian Fellowship School on Thursday.
