Rebels Roll Russellville to Stay Perfect in District Play

The Todd County Central baseball team finished off a regular-season sweep of Russellville on Tuesday, topping the Panthers 10-0 to move to 3-0 in 13th-District play.

The Rebels got six shutout innings on the mound from Will Kearns to improve to 15-5 overall with a visit from West Creek, TN scheduled for Wednesday.

Nate Reding’s RBI double got the Rebels on the board in the top of the 1st, followed by a run-scoring single for Tanner Farmer for a 2-0 lead.

Devin Schutt’s double brought in a run in the 3rd, and the Rebels scored once in each of the next three frames to lead 7-0.

Grady Reding doubled in a run in the top of the 7th, and Schutt and Farmer added RBI singles to cap the scoring.

Kearns earned the win, working six shutout innings while allowing only two hits with three walks and ten strikeouts.

Farmer and Schutt each finished with two hits and a pair of RBI, and Nate Reding hit safely twice.

Russell Higgins took the loss on the mound for Russellville, yielding two earned runs on two hits with three walks in an inning of work.  Eric Zamarripa pitched six innings, surrendering eight runs, four earned, on ten hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
