
University Heights took advantage of Heritage Christian pitching struggles to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and then Eston Glover sent Blazer fans home happy as he hit a walk-off RBI single to give UHA a 4-3 come from behind win over the Warriors Thursday night.
UHA’s game-winning rally came after the Warriors plated three innings in the top of the sixth to take their first lead of the night at 3-2. Two Blazer errors in the inning were key to HCA taking the late-game lead.
The Blazer rally in the final inning started with four consecutive walks. UHA scored a run during that stretch on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Eston Glover came up with his game-winning hit.
UHA took the early 1-0 lead in the game when Ryan Luckey scored on a balk by HCA pitcher J.J. Thompson in the bottom of the first. The lead grew to 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth when Nic Luckey doubled and then scored on a sacrifice bunt.
UHA picks up the win despite being outhit by the Warriors seven to three. The Blazers were the recipients of ten walks from two HCA pitchers.
Eston Glover, Jackson Flynn, and Nic Luckey had the hits for UHA.
Seven different Heritage batters had a hit in the game. Carter Glover had the only RBI for the Warriors.
Jaiden Miles went the distance on the mound for UHA, giving up three runs, none of them earned, striking out seven while walking three.
J.J. Thompson got the start for HCA. Thompson went 4 1/3, giving up two runs, neither of them earned, on two hits, striking out nine while walking five.
