
Christian County’s Gabe Montes held visiting University Heights to a pair of hits over five innings, and Carter Sholar drove in five runs to help the Colonels to a 14-0 win over the Blazers on Friday.
Sholar’s RBI single put the Colonels in front 2-0 in the 1st, and they took advantage of four Blazer errors to push six more runs across in their second at-bat. Elijah Underhill added an RBI triple, and Sholar singled in another run for an 8-0 advantage.
Three more Blazer errors and RBI singles by Brylle Javier and Robert Irving led to a six-run 3rd. UHA starting pitcher Eston Glover exited after 2.1 innings, allowing 14 runs, five earned, on six hits with five walks and a strikeout. Nic Luckey finished the game on the mound, holding the Colonels scoreless over one and a third.
Montes scattered a pair of hits with a walk and six strikeouts to earn the win. Javier and Sholar each had two hits, and Irving drove in a couple of runs.
Christian County improves to 20-3 ahead of matchups with Henderson County and Marshall County on Saturday.
UHA sees a three-game winning run come to an end and stands at 11-11 with a trip to Caldwell County coming up on Monday.
