After a tough loss to host Owensboro Catholic Friday night, the Lyon County Lady Lyons finished their appearance in the 2022 Owensboro Catholic Classic with a split of games against 3rd Region opponents. The Lady Lyons began Saturday with a 12-3 win over Owensboro before falling 5-0 to Hancock County.

In the game against the Lady Red Devils, it was the Calista Collins show at the plate. Collins hit two home runs and drove in six runs in leading Lyon County to the nine-run win. Freshman Destiny Cayce picked up the win in the circle, going six innings, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on seven hits, while striking out one and walking two.

Hancock County pitcher Lily Roberts showed why she is one of the better pitchers in the western part of the state in the second game of the day for Lyon County. Roberts struck out nine and held the Lady Lyons to just four hits as the Lady Hornets picked up the 5-0 win.

The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom of the 5th inning when Hancock County erupted for all five of their runs. The big hit in the inning was a three-run homer from Ella Staples.
