Trigg County scored six times in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 12-7 deficit on the way to a 13-12 5th District victory Tuesday in Smithland.
Down 9-2 through four innings, the Wildcats put up three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to get within 10-7.
Livingston (8-16 overall, 0-5 district) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to build a five-run cushion, but Trigg’s big seventh spoiled the day for the Cardinals.
Trigg (10-17, 1-4) scored all six of its seventh-inning runs with two outs. That included a bases-clearing double from Jacob Hunter to take a one-run lead.
Stephen Audas, the third Trigg pitcher of the day, picked up the win. He allowed two earned runs on one hit in two innings.
Dallas Ahart pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh to hang on to the one-run lead and earn a save.
Mac McCormick was 3-for-4 and knocked in four for the Wildcats while Jay Humphries went 2-for-2 and Mathew Leeper was 2-for-4.
The Wildcats outhit the Cardinals 14-7.
Ethan Ramage went 2-for-2 with a double and five runs batted in for Livingston.
The Wildcats and Cardinals will play again Wednesday at the Trigg Rec Complex.
