5-12-butts

Trigg County needed a six-run final inning rally to beat Livingston Central Tuesday in Smithland. The return game Wednesday in Cadiz had no such drama as the Wildcats scored nine runs in the first two innings and picked up a 12-2 win on senior day at the Complex.

The win wrapped up the No. 3 seed for the Wildcats in next week’s district tournament while Livingston Central will be the No. 4 seed.

Trevor Terrell and Matthew Leeper each had RBI singles in the opening inning with Stephen Audas later adding a run-scoring hit of his own.

In the second inning, Aaron Despain smacked an RBI double, and Terrell and Mac McCormick each added run-scoring doubles of their own to increase the Wildcat lead to 9-0.

Trigg County ended the game via the mercy rule in the fifth inning with Despain’s RBI single increasing the Wildcat lead to 10-2. Trigg got their final runs of the game on bases-loaded walks to Isaac Peca and to Leeper.

Despain, Terrell, and Tyler Ahart each had two hits with Despain and Terrell knocking two runs. Dallas Ahart picked up the pitching win with four innings of three-hit baseball. He struck out three.

Livingston Central had five hits in the game with Carson Binford getting two of those. Skylar Padan added a double.
