HCA’s Trenton Hayes Signs With Campbellsville

Trenton Hayes is a standout in three sports for Heritage Christian Academy but on Thursday, he decided on one to continue playing in college.

Hayes signed a letter to play baseball at Campbellsville University, putting pen to paper in a ceremony that included nearly all of his senior class and teammates.

Hayes was the MVP of the KCAA State Soccer Tournament in helping lead the Warriors to the state title in the fall.

He was also named to the KCAA All-State Tournament Team in basketball after helping the Warriors advance to the championship game.

But baseball has always been his first love. It’s a sport he began playing early and one that saw him break into the HCA starting lineup as a middle schooler.  He was a big part of HCA’s run to the KCAA championship game in 2019.  After COVID-19 caused the 2020 season to be canceled, HCA took home the state title in 2021 with Hayes named to both the KCAA All-State Team and the all-tournament team.

His .272 batting average in 2022 is somewhat deceptive because his one base percentage is .516 and he is third in runs scored. On the mound, Hayes is 4-2 with one save with 39 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched.

Hayes and the Warriors still have some work to do with the KCAA State Tournament coming up at the end of the month at David Eddings Field.  But choosing a college is one less thing Hayes will have to worry about after Thursday.
