Coming into Friday night’s game at Hopkinsville, the Russellville Lady Panthers had not won a game since the quarterfinal round of the All A Classic state tournament. That was a stretch of five straight games that began with their loss to Holy Cross in the All A semifinals.

Russellville put an end to that skid in a big way Friday. The Lady Panthers scored 18 runs over the three innings of the game on their way to an 18-1 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

The Lady Panthers took advantage of nine hits, three Hopkinsville errors, six walks, and three hit batters to score the 18 runs. Russellville scored six in the first, two in the second, and wrapped up their night with ten runs in the top of the third.

Hopkinsville’s run, and only hit of the game, came on a rocket shot to centerfield by Jakayla Grubbs in the bottom of the third.

A’miyah Collier and Addie Mosier combined to pitch a one-hitter over the three innings, striking out five, while walking four.

Jacklyn Zuege had a big game for the Lady Panthers, going 2-2 with a home run, a double, four RBIs, and three runs scored.

Hopkinsville falls to 8-15 with the loss. They are set to wrap up the regular season Saturday afternoon when they host Community Christian.
