Four Schools See Singles Players Advance to Regional Semifinals

Four different 2nd Region schools will have players moving on to the boys’ state tennis tournament following the first day of boys play at the regional tennis tournament at Ruff Park in Hopkinsville. Ryan Hammett, of Caldwell County, Ethan Alexander, of University Heights, Nathaniel Crick, of Madisonville-North Hopkins, and Mason Bridgeman, of Henderson County, have all reached Wednesday night’s semifinals, with all four also qualifying for the state tournament in Lexington.

Hammett advanced by winning matches over Jackson Crawford, of Lyon County (6-1, 6-1) and Weston Wint, of Webster County (6-0, 6-0).

Alexander reached the semis by getting past Thomas Berger, of Henderson County (6-4, 6-1) and Eli Dunn, of Webster County (6-1, 6-2)

Hammett and Alexander will meet in one semifinal match.

Crick moved to the semifinals by beating Nick Adams, of Caldwell County (6-0, 6-0) and by taking down Derrick Loar, of Fort Campbell (6-1, 6-1).

Bridgeman picked up a win over Collin Calhoun, of Lyon County, (6-0, 6-0) and then got a win over Leo Vasquez, of Webster County (7-5, 6-1).

Crick and Bridgeman will meet in the other semifinal match of the tournament.

The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Wednesday evening beginning at 5pm at Ruff Park.
