The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers claimed another team regional tennis title Wednesday evening. With the results of the semifinals and finals at Ruff Park, the Lady Tigers were able to edge out Henderson County 11-9 to pick up the championship.

Hoptown began the night trailing Henderson County 8-6. The Lady Tigers claimed the first two matches to be completed Wednesday. Allie Fort and Ella Lester won their semifinal doubles match while Sophie Maddux won her semifinal to even the points total at 8-8.

Henderson County’s doubles entry of Merrick Conkright and Cameron Chandler knocked off Grasen Givens and Ella Brown, of Hopkinsville, to give Henderson a one-point lead.

The match that ended up deciding the title was the singles match between Abby Moss and Zoe Lawrence. Moss rallied from a set down to take a 4-6, 6-1 (10-7) win. The win evened the point total at 9-9. But, it also guaranteed Hoptown a point in the title match, putting the Lady Tigers up 10-9.

When Lester and Fort won the title match, that locked up the team championship for Hopkinsville.
