Livingston Central grabbed a third-inning lead and never gave it back as they defeated Crittenden County 10-4 Tuesday to claim the program’s first district title in eight years.
Hadley Hargrove was stellar in relief for the Lady Cardinals, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out two. She also had two hits and a run from the lead-off spot.
Down 1-0 in the second inning, Tori Harris smacked a single to right that scored Livingston Central’s first runs of the game.
Crittenden retook the lead in the third inning when Andrea Frederico scored Elliot Evans with a single. Anna Boone followed with a two-run single that advanced the Lady Rocket lead to 4-2. Boone finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Livingston countered with three runs in the home half of the inning to take the lead for good, highlighted by Emersyn Ramage’s two-run single. Madison Bolte had the go-ahead single that plated Ramage. Bolte would later add a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Bolte finished 2-for-3 with three RBI but it was Ramage who did the damage for the Lady Cardinals with three hits and five RBIs with three runs scored.
Hadlee Rich and Frederico each had two hits for Crittenden, and Brown added a double.
The district title is the first for Livingston Central since the 2014 squad that won 32 games, an All-A state title and lost to Madisonville on a 3-run walk-off home-run by Kaylee Tow in the region championship game.
Livingston Central (20-11) will play either Hopkinsville, Webster County, or Caldwell County in the region tournament that begins Monday at Henderson County.
Crittenden County (10-19) will play a first-round game against Christian County, Madisonville, or Henderson County.
