Kentucky coach John Calipari took his team to the Bahamas before the 2014-15 season and UK went 38-0 before losing to Wisconsin in the Final Four.
Calipari took his 2018-29 team back to the Bahamas before that season started and reached the Elite Eight before losing 77-71 to Auburn in overtime. The team finished 30-7 and was ranked seventh in the final AP rankings.
In less than two months, Calipari will take the 2022-23 team to the Bahamas for four games against professional foreign national teams. Senior point guard Sahvir Wheeler is already excited about the trip.
“I’m looking forward to the Bahamas trip not only because it’s the Bahamas but just being able to play some games with a new group of guys who I think has a chance to be a really special group,” said Wheeler.
However, he also is looking forward to some free time with teammates on the trip.
“When we’re not playing those games, we’re definitely going to have fun, definitely gonna have some team-building stuff just so we can enjoy each other’s company,” Wheeler said. “ It’s a long journey between now and March when tournament time comes. Just try to embrace each other, learn each other, and have fun along the way.”

Sad to say, but with the departure of Sharpe, Sahvir is Calipari’s top pet now. Hopefully he has worked on his shot. Maybe CJ can help him with that.
