Calloway County has turned to the Christian County High School Lady Colonels’ coaching staff for its new head girls’ basketball coach. School officials announced Wednesday that former Christian County assistant coach David Brown has been named the new Lady Laker’s head coach.

Brown replaces Maddie Waldrop, who left the Calloway County job after one season to take a position as an assistant coach at UT-Martin.

Brown began his coaching career in 2013 at Heritage Christian Academy. Following a year on staff as an assistant with the boy’s program, he transitioned to head coach of the Lady Warriors. He has been an assistant coach at Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School, where he most recently served as head assistant to the Lady Colonels.

Brown takes over a Calloway County program that went 11-16 during the 2021-22 season and reached the 1st Region semifinals.

The Lady Lakers are set to return 10 players from last season’s roster, seven of which will be freshmen and sophomores.
