PUMA officials believe Abby Steiner will have a “brilliant career.” (PUMA Photo)
Remember a few weeks ago when sensational University of Kentucky sprinter Abby Steiner was upset that it was reported she signed a $2 million endorsement deal with PUMA after her record-setting career at UK.
Steiner basically said it was no one’s business what she had or had not signed.
However, PUMA officially announced a deal with Steiner Thursday even though there was no mention of the dollar amount.
Steiner said she was “thankful” for the opportunity just a few days before she competes in the 200-meter dash at the World’s Championships in Eugene, Ore.
“Abby Steiner is one of the most exciting upcoming stars in Track and Field,” said Pascal Rolling, head of Running Sports Marketing at PUMA. “We believe that she will have a brilliant career and we want to be by her side and support her.”
“PUMA’s list of high-performance athletes is impressive and being one of them just feels amazing,” Steiner said in a PUMA release. “I am very happy to be part of the PUMA family now and I can’t wait to take off.”
Steiner broke the 200 record at the NCAA Championships in June with her finish of 21.80 seconds. Then she won the 200 at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championship.

I wear Pumas, and I am thrilled to see that Puma now has an official connection to the most exciting track athlete to come along since Flo Jo.
She has a 2-million dollar smile, a superb academic record, and let’s her running do the talking, rather than her mouth. She is a role model for young women. We know conclusively that playing a sport is highly beneficial for women, and the more women who play, run, or jump the better.
Abby is the best
Abby, disregard the noise of jealousy and run your game.. You are a real inspiration. Puma has it right. I cannot wait to see what you do next. Keep smiling, and being yourself.. A class act.. Run like a Puma..
