Saturday turned out to be a quick day for the Trigg County Wildcats at the annual Best of the West 7-on-7. After picking up four wins on Friday during pool play, the Wildcats dropped a pair of tough decisions during the bracket play part of the event Saturday.
Trigg County opened play in the championship bracket in a matchup against Macon County. Macon County had advanced to the game with a big win earlier in the morning over Hopkins Central. Macon County would end up taking a 40-27 win over Trigg County, knocking the Wildcats down into the consolation bracket.
Trigg County would then face Christian County, who had advanced in the consolation bracket with a win over West Carroll. The Colonels, who had their struggles on Friday, took the win over Trigg County, ending the Wildcats’ appearance in the event for 2022.
