Taking the cue from their musical name, the Full Count Rhythm felt the part of a Go-Gos song from the 1980’s Tuesday night. Full Count certainly had “the beat” as they rolled past the Hoptown Hoppers 9-1 at Hopkinsville High School, completing the two-game sweep of the best-of-three series and moving the Rhythm into the OVL championship series.

The Full Count offense got rolling midway through the game and pounded out sixteen hits for the game.

Full Count pitching was in control of this game from the very beginning. Rhythm starter Spencer Wilkins picked up the win going 7 innings, allowing just one run on five hits, striking out ten while walking none.

Full Count relievers Caleb Marks and Daniel Dewey finished out the game going an inning each, with both relievers throwing just nine pitches.

The highlight of the game for the Hoppers came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Luis-Vergara Schoonewolf left the yard for the only Hopper run of the game.

The game was tied at 0-0 through the first three innings, but from there it belonged to Full Count. The Rhythm put up four in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two more in the top of the sixth to grab an 8-0 lead.

Vergara-Schoonewolf’s homer in the bottom of the sixth for the Hoppers would trim the lead to 8-1, but there would be no late-game rally this night for the guys from Hoptown.

The Rhythm added an insurance run in the top of the ninth to end the scoring for the night.

Luis Vergara-Schoonewolf and Anthony Zarlingo had two hits each to lead the Hoppers. Drew Donaldson and Fred Fernandez had the other two Hoptown hits in the game.

Starter Aaron Moss was tagged with the loss for Hoptown. He lasted three and one-third innings, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out four while walking two.
