Tilghman Snaps Skid in Win Over Wildcats

Kyle Bleidt will have to wait a bit longer for his first win as Trigg County boys’ soccer coach. However, the wait is over for a Paducah Tilghman team nursing a long losing streak.

The Blue Tornado jumped out to a 2-0 lead early and posted a 4-1 win over the Wildcats Thursday, snapping a 23-match losing skid that dated back to late in the 2019 season.

Tilghman got on the board just two minutes into the contest when Trigg couldn’t clear a missed shot and the Tornado scored off a rebound out front.

A penalty kick in the 21st minute off a foul in the box gave Tilghman a 2-0 lead.

Trigg responded in the second half and played with more urgency. A golden opportunity was missed in the 55th minute when Tilghman goalie Brian Oliver made a save on a Trigg direct kick at the top of the box.

Five minutes later, Marlee Reeves got Trigg on the board with a shot that got past Oliver.

However, Tilghman scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes for the final 4-1 score.

Tilghman outshot Trigg County 19-6. Oliver had five saves, while Trigg goalie Riley West made 10 saves.

Trigg County will play at Logan County Saturday morning at 11.
