A shutout win is always a nice way to go into a new football season. The Hopkinsville Tigers did just that Friday night, rolling past Battle Ground Academy 20-0 in two quarters of action at the Stadium of Champions.
The Tiger defense, specifically Daisjaun Mercer, led the effort for the Tigers in the contest. Mercer ran back two interceptions for scores and had a long reception on offense to ignite the Tigers.
Hopkinsville will open the 2022 season next Friday night with a trip to Louisville, where the Tigers will take on Ballard.
