It was a “Special Ks” kind of night for the St. Mary Lady Vikings Thursday at Lee S. Jones Park. Katie O’Neill had a big night offensively while Kaitlynn Burrus was a wall in goal as the Lady Vikings picked up a 4-0 win over Lyon County.
O’Neill found the net three times to lead the attack for the Lady Vikings on one end of the field. Miranda Gartner had the other goal for St. Mary.
On the defensive end, Burrus stopped 14 shots as she turned away Lyon County attackers all night long.
The loss drops the Lady Lyons to 1-1 on the season.
Lyon County will return to the pitch Monday evening. The Lady Lyons will travel to University Heights where they will take on the Lady Blazers in the opening round of the 2nd Region All A Classic.
The winner of the Lyon County-UHA match will host Caldwell County on Tuesday night in a regional semifinal.
