
Graves County used a strong second half to power past Lyon County 8-1 in Friday night soccer action in Eddyville.
The Eagles led just 2-1 at halftime after a relatively competitive first half.
But Graves (1-0) dominated after the break, outscoring the Lyons 6-0 over the final 40 minutes.
Ryan Hayden had two goals and two assists for the Eagles while Eddie Romero also had two goals.
Romero netted the game’s first goal in the 15th minute.
But Walker Suitor tied things for Lyon in the 19th minute. Suitor’s goal came on a 35-yard direct kick from the right side that went just under the crossbar.
However, Romero stuck in a loose ball in front of the net in the 37th minute to send Graves to halftime with a 2-1 edge.
Four goals during one 7-minute stretch during the second half allowed the Eagles to open up a 6-1 lead.
Two more goals in the final 4 minutes helped Graves salt away the contest.
Luis Romero had a goal and four assists while John Pardo had a tally and a helper.
Ethan Upton and John Perry had one goal each while Mason Kirby had an assist for the Eagles.
Lyon (1-1) will play in the 2nd Region All A Classic next week.
