After a 2-15 season in 2021, the Fort Campbell volleyball team lost eight players in turnover typical of the school’s athletic teams. However, the Lady Falcons do return a core of players to build around, led by sophomore All-Region selection Marlie Fanning.
Fort Campbell’s first season on the court since sitting out the 2020 season ended with a loss to University Heights in the first round of the 8th-District tournament. The program hasn’t won a postseason match since a district runner-up showing in 2010.
The Lady Falcons saw four seniors graduate, and four other players from last season don’t appear on this year’s roster. But Fanning leads a group of four significant contributors, with a handful of new faces joining the squad.
Fanning led the Lady Falcons in kills (79), digs (145), aces (44), and finished second in assists (68) during a freshman season that ended with All-District and All-Region nods.
Senior Anika Weisbrich was a force at the net with 62 kills and added 26 aces as a junior, and fellow senior Abigail Roby posted 38 kills and 17 aces. Senior Alexsa Hoffman adds experience after 75 digs last year.
Two juniors, Analiese Smith and Elinor Arnold, join the team this season, along with sophomore Mackenzie Cooper and freshman Sienna Rodriguez.
After a 3-0 loss to Northeast, TN on Monday to start the season, the Lady Falcons welcome Trigg County to post on Thursday. Both of Fort Campbell’s victories in 2021 came against the Lady Wildcats.
