
The UHA Blazers will head into Saturday’s All A regional championship on a two-match winning streak. The Blazers won their second straight by getting past Hopkins Central 3-0 Thursday night at Givens Field.
The win was also the Blazers’ second straight by shutout and their third shutout win of the season. UHA had knocked off Lyon County 5-0 in the All A semifinals Tuesday night.
Griffin McCoy had another big night for UHA with a pair of goals. Preston Thomas scored the other on a penalty kick. Thomas assisted on both of McCoy’s goals for the Blazers.
Quentin Quarles continues to roll along in goal, coming up with the shutout and eight saves on the night.
The win over Hopkins Central moves Univesity Heights to 3-2 on the season.
The Blazers will now play Caldwell County Saturday afternoon in the 2nd Region All A championship game. With the game’s move to Saturday, the location has now also changed. Originally, the match was to be played at Fort Campbell. The two teams will now square of at 4pm at Givens Field.
