The Todd County Central Rebels have the chance to continue to make history for the school’s soccer program this weekend. The Rebels will be in Glasgow Saturday to play two more matches in the Scotties Classic, with those matches being against Hart County and Russell County.
The Rebels have already set the best start for a Todd Central boys’ team as far back as KHSAA records go, which is back through the 2005 season. No Todd Central team has gone seven matches to start the season without a loss during that time period. The Rebels are currently 6-0-1 with the only blemish being a tie against Owensboro Catholic.
With six wins already on the board, the Rebels have their highest win total since 2014, when they went 8-7-1. A pair of wins in Glasgow this weekend would equal that total.
The 36 goals scored by Todd Central in the first seven matches is more than the total goals scored in any of the last four seasons.
Not only are the Rebels putting the ball in the net, they are not allowing their opponents to do so. Through seven matches in the 2022 season, the Rebels have given up just two goals and have five shutouts to their credit.
The five shutouts are the most in a season since 2011 when the Rebels had eight on their way to a 12-7-2 record.
