Trigg County dropped a three-set match to St. Mary Tuesday at Wildcat Gym in a contest in which they held the lead in the final two sets.

The Lady Vikings won 25-8, 25-17, 25-20.

In the second set, Trigg County grabbed a 15-13 lead but couldn’t sustain it.

Trigg appeared on its way to a win in the third set, up 19-16. But St. Mary rallied for the 25-20 win.

Trigg County was forced to shuffle its lineup some due to injuries and sickness. Chloe McGraw had six service points in the first set, while Hannah Brassington had three in the final set.

Trigg County coach Stephen Erdmann liked what he saw from the players that stepped into new roles Tuesday and feels like the Lady Wildcats are close to turning the corner.

The Lady Wildcats have two consecutive district games next – Friday at home against Livingston Central and Tuesday at Crittenden County.
