
Fort Campbell’s straight-set win over Trigg County was the ninth straight for the Lady Falcons in the series dating back to 2008.
Getting off to a strong start, Fort Campbell handed Trigg a 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 setback Thursday at Wildcat Gym.
Anika Weisbrich was strong at the net in the opening set with three kills for the Lady Falcons as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Marlie Fanning and Alexsa Hoffman each had a pair of aces in the set.
In the second set, Trigg was stronger at the net with Lilian McKelvey registering three kills as the teams were tied 5-5. Fort Campbell found open spots in Trigg’s defense as they built its lead to 12-7 and then 16-11.
Abigail Roby had two kills and two aces for the Lady Falcons in the set as they claimed the 25-15 win.
Fort Campbell led wire-to-wire in the final set to win 25-13.
Trigg County had trouble in its serve-receive game throughout the match as the Lady Falcons registered 18 aces.
Weisbrich finished with seven kills and seven aces for the Lady Falcons. Marlie Fanning and Hoffman each had three aces, and Roby added three kills and two aces. Siena Rodriguez had 11 digs.
For Trigg County McKelvey and Ava Scheer each had five kills. Abigail Johnson added 10 digs.
Fort Campbell improved to 4-6 and will play Christian County Tuesday.
Trigg County (0-18) will play at Union County Tuesday.
