The Todd County Central girls’ soccer team maintained its unbeaten run heading into Saturday’s All ‘A’ Sectional matchup with Owensboro Catholic, twice coming from behind to tie hosts Fort Campbell 2-2 on Thursday.
The Lady Falcons had posted shutouts in their last two victories but yielded a pair of 2nd-half goals to slip to 6-6-1 with a trip to Trigg County coming up next week.
Charlize Cruz gave the Lady Falcons a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute, running onto a loose ball in the box and finding the back of the net from close range.
Fort Campbell was on the front foot for most of the opening half and took a lead into the break, but the Lady Rebels turned things around to start the 2nd half.
After ten minutes of sustained pressure, Todd Central pulled even on a goal by Madison Henderson off a pass from Ciara Collins. The strike took Henderson’s team-high season total to 20.
Fort Campbell regained the lead on a solo effort by Anna Allen in the 66th minute. From the right, Allen cut inside and beat two players before steering her shot past Todd Central’s Darby Delph for a 2-1 score.
However, the Lady Rebels again had the answer. Melanie Chamberlaine drove down the left sideline and played a cross that found its way to Hannah Oliver at the far post. Oliver’s shot hit the back of the net to tie the match with 6:45 left on the clock.
Delph made six saves on the night, none bigger than a 1v1 stop with three minutes left to deny the Lady Falcons a Senior Night victory.
The Lady Rebels haven’t lost in six matches to stand at 6-5-2.
