
On Monday, the Hopkinsville volleyball team put the brakes on a six-game skid with a 3-0 victory over Trigg County for the Lady Tigers’ second straight-set win over the Lady Wildcats this season.
The Lady Tigers cruised to a 25-8 win in the opening set and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the second.
The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the third after a kill by Ava Scheer, but Hoptown was back even at 9-9 after an ace for Kendra McMickens.
Trigg took its final lead of the set at 10-9 on an ace by Lilian McKelvey, but Hoptown surged in front 14-11 and forced a Lady Wildcat timeout.
The Lady Wildcats took another timeout down 21-14 after a kill by Hoptown’s Iyanna Quarles before the Lady Tigers scored the final four points to win 25-14.
Hopkinsville improved to 3-12 with an 8th-District matchup with UHA scheduled for Tuesday.
Trigg County returns to Wildcat Gym on Tuesday for a visit from Crittenden County.
