Last year, Logan County’s Abby Grace Forbes qualified for her first state golf tournament, but it didn’t go so well as she missed the cut by a single shot.
She won’t have to worry about a cut this year as the Lady Cougar senior shot an eight-over par 80 to qualify for next week’s final round of the girls’ state golf tournament in Bowling Green.
Under the new format, Forbes will play both rounds in what will be the final competition of her high school career. On Tuesday, she carded a 40 on each side of the course in a round that included 10 pars and one birdie.
Her Logan County teammate Emma Fitzgerald shot a 90 and did not qualify for the next round of the state tournament. However, the sophomore did have the shot of the day as she recorded a hole-in-one on the par 3 fifth hole.
The final rounds of the girls’ state golf tournament will be held on October 7-8 at the Bowling Green Country Club.
