Blazers Looking for 3rd Straight District Title

The University Heights Academy Blazers will be looking for their third championship in a row as the 8th District boys’ soccer tournament gets underway this week. The tourney starts Tuesday evening at Fryar Stadium at Fort Campbell.

The Blazers will open play in the first semifinal at 5:30pm as they take on the host Fort Campbell Falcons. UHA beat the Falcons 6-0 in the only match this season. The Blazers come in having won six of their last seven, while the Falcons have dropped four straight.

The Blazers are led by Ethan Hale, who has scored 19 goals and has 10 assists, and Preston Thomas, who has 13 goals.

The Falcons are led by Aidan Blaszkowski with 16 goals. Joziah Jardiolin added 10 goals for Fort Campbell this season.

Fort Campbell has not beaten University Heights since September of 2014.

Tuesday night’s second semifinal will have the Hopkinsville Tigers squaring off against the Christian County Colonels. The Colonels picked up a 2-1 win in the two teams’ only meeting of the 2022 season.

Hoptown is led by Nick Klar, who has scored 16 goals, and Miguel Magana, who has 15 for the year.

Christian County is paced by Bryan Linares with 8 goals. Brylle Javier and Ashton Smith added six goals each.

Tuesday night’s two winners will meet Thursday night in the 8th District championship match at 6:00pm.
