It was not exactly the “prize” draw the Todd County Central Lady Rebels were looking for after they won the 13th District championship. When the pairings for the 4th Region girls’ soccer tournament were announced Thursday, the Lady Rebels were matched up against the Bowling Green Lady Purples, with the match set for Monday evening at 5:30 pm at Greenwood High School.
The Lady Rebels advanced to the regional tournament with a pair of 1-0 wins, over Russellville in the district semifinals and then over the Logan County Lady Cougars in the 13th District championship match.
Bowling Green knocked off South Warren 3-1 in the 14th District semifinals before falling 3-1 to Greenwood in the championship.
According to KHSAA records, the only time the two teams have ever met on the pitch was September 24, 2020, with the Lady Purples coming away with an 11-1 win. Several of the current Lady Rebels were involved in that match. Ciara Collins scored the only goal for Todd County Central that night.
