He’s a top 50 player in his recruiting class and already has 14 scholarship offers, including Kentucky and Alabama. Yet Lexington Christian junior Cutter Boley had never had a 500-yard passing game until last week’s 43-0 win over Somerset.

Boley was 36 of 57 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns along with two interceptions. He also ran for a score in the win.

“The next day my arm was a little sore but we just went out there and did our thing,” said Boley.

He has now completed 156 of 241 passes for 2,531 yards and 20 scores with 10 interceptions. He also has four rushing touchdowns.

Not bad considering he’s not been fully healthy since suffering a high ankle sprain in game three against Christian Academy of Louisville. He didn’t play the next week against Lexington Catholic and then tried to play at Pikeville when he was not yet 100 percent. LCA was outscored 151-41 in those games.

“I feel like I am 100 percent now. After the bye week, I got better. There’s nothing now physically I can’t do. I am as close to 100 percent as you can be during the season,” Boley said.

The 6-5, 205-pound Boley has scholarship offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Mississippi, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and Kansas.

Lexington Christian (4-4) plays at Class 2A district rival Danville (4-4) Friday at 7:30 p.m. Both are 2-0 in district play and the winner will have home-field advantage in the playoffs for at least two weeks if it keeps winning.

“We had a really tough schedule at the beginning of the year. We got our taste of losses and think that is about over now,” Boley said. “Danville is a solid team. They have a really good running back/quarterback in (Demauriah) Brown. He is a really good player.”

Danville beat Somerset 35-14 when Brown ran for 286 yards and five scores on 17 carries. He ran six times for 138 yards and three scores in a win over Washington County and returned a fumble 66 yards for a score last week.

Brown has 1,128 yards and 16 scores on 105 carries, he is 11 of 16 passing for 135 yards and has four catches for 67 yards and one score. He also has a kickoff return touchdown. He is visiting Louisville this weekend after going to Kentucky earlier this season.

“Danville is not somebody we can look past,” Boley said. “We have got to play our best. We can’t play weak or take plays off. We have to play to our max if we want to handle them pretty easily. It should be a really good game.”

Lexington Christian receiver Parker Chaney had 16 catches for 291 yards last week and has 67 catches for 993 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Evan Brown has 33 catches for 555 yards and five scores while Will Nicholas has 18 receptions for 434 yards and four scores.

“Parker Chaney is a really smart player,” Boley said. “Will is a guy we did not expect to play as much receiver as he has but he filled a role when we had injuries and nobody can replace him. He has been fabulous. He’s crafty and sure handed. Him and Parker both know the game better than most. And Evan Brown is fast and a highlight player. He gets open deep.”

  1. It would be nice to get this guy but I think the chances are slim. In many ways, kids coming out of high school today are a lot smarter when it comes to evaluating their development and who can best do that for them.
