The draw was not especially kind to the Todd County Central Lady Rebels Thursday morning. For the third year in a row, the Lady Rebels have drawn the champions of the 14th District, one of the toughest volleyball districts in the state, for their opening round opponent in the 4th Region tournament.

What that means this year is that the Lady Rebels will have to square off against the Bowling Green Lady Purples Tuesday evening at 5:30pm at South Warren High School.

Bowling Green enters the regional tournament with the highest volleyball RPI ranking in the state. The Lady Purples are 34-2 on the season. They have only lost to one Kentucky team, that being Elizabethtown in five sets in the final days of the regular season.

The Lady Purples only other loss came to McGill-Toolen, of Mobile, Alabama, in the ‘Battle of Old Shell Road’, in Mobile.

Bowling Green advances to the regional tournament with a straight set win over Greenwood in the 14th District championship.

Todd Central and Bowling Green did meet earlier in the season. The Lady Purples won in straight sets 25-18, 25-23, and 25-16.

The two teams met last season in the opening round of the 4th Region tournament with Bowling Green winning 25-11, 25-14, and 25-15. The Lady Purples would go on to claim the 4th Region tournament title.
