
Trigg County junior Fatu Crain just missed a second top-5 finish at the KHSAA Region 1 2A cross-country meet on Saturday at Marshall County, running 6th to secure a return to next week’s state meet at Bourbon County.
After a 5th-place finish last year, Crain ran a 23:13 to lead the Lady Wildcats, just ahead of state-bound Alliyah Thomas in 8th with a time of 23:27. Thomas will be making her first appearance at the state meet.
Trigg’s Alex Smith finished 19th with a time of 28:11.
Calloway County’s Reese Settle repeated as region champion, finishing the course in 20:49.
Crain led four Trigg runners at state last season, running a 23:04 to finish 108th.
