
Fort Campbell senior William Lubas followed up a Region 1 2A cross country title last season with a runner-up showing on Saturday at Marshall County to help the Falcons to a 2nd-place team finish.
Lubas ran a 17:51 to finish 24 seconds back of Murray’s Guervenson Binfield-Smith, the only runners in the race to break 18 minutes.
Freshman Seth Puraty was 8th with a 19:02, and Jeffrey Perry just missed a top-10 finish in 11th with a 19:22.
John Arnold ran a 20:24 to finish 20th, and Jayden Perry rounded out the scoring in 25th with a time of 20:52.
Gunner Principe ran a 21:30, and Jackson Evans crossed the line at 22:51.
Dawson Springs earned the team title with an average time of 19:17. Fort Campbell’s 19:30 average was 19 seconds better than UHA in 3rd.
The Falcons head to next weekend’s KHSAA State Cross Country Championships at Bourbon County. Lubas was 8th in last season’s race with a time of 17:50.
