Olivia Mitchell Named Mid-South Champion of Character

Caldwell County grad Olivia Mitchell has been named a Mid-South Conference Champion of Character.

Mitchell was nominated by Georgetown College volleyball head coach Felicia Pace, based on her leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA — integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

Conference officials announced the 2022 Mid-South Conference Women’s Volleyball Champions of Character Team on Tuesday.

Others honored were: Bethel’s Dominika Skoneczna, Campbellsville’s Molly Shannon, Cumberland’s Harlee Kate Reid, Cumberlands’ Kira Ervin, Freed-Hardeman’s Ann Elise Jackson, Lindsey Wilson’s Madison Bidwell, Pikeville’s Mikela Cook, Shawnee State’s Abbie Kallner, Tennessee Southern’s Hannah Oliver and Thomas More’s Ruthie Neu.

The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport.

Mitchell is a sophomore outside hitter at Georgetown, which will play in the Mid-South Conference Tournament this week in Bowling Green. No. 9 seed Georgetown will take on eighth-seeded Freed-Hardeman Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The winner of will face top-seeded Campbellsvlle at 3 p.m. that day.

At Caldwell, Mitchell was a two-time 2nd Region Player of the Year and was twice named first-team all-state.

She led the Lady Tigers to the 2nd Region championship in 2020 and finished her high school career with 1,917 kills and 1,050 digs — both Caldwell County records.
